French Ambassador's VIP guest house

French Ambassador's VIP guest house

The compound of the French embassy in Vientiane is a beautifully landscaped tropical garden dominated by majestic old trees. Built in 1910, the Ambassador's residence is the largest and most opulent of a series of stylish colonial style villas scattered around the garden. Ateliers de la Peninsule was entrusted with the mission to restore the villa to its original beauty. This involved a comprehensive assessment of the structure, complete renovation of facades and indoor spaces. Ateliers de la Peninsule handled interior design in collaboration with the decoration department of the French Foreign Affairs Ministry. In an earlier intervention at the French embassy in 1999, Ateliers de la Peninsule designed a colonial bungalow with two master bedrooms for visiting diplomates and V.I.P's. Interior decoration was designed in collaboration with Ms. Viviane Inthavong (Couleur d'Asie, Vientiane).
